Each city has its own flair and interesting parts. Our trip to Switzerland included a visit to the historical city of Lucerne. Below I’ve listed the parts of Lucerne my 3 toddlers enjoyed the most.
Covered Bridges
Not only did these protect us from the rain but they were fun to make noise in!
The wooden bridges were over the river so the echoes from the water and footsteps made toddler music.
They were long enough to actually occupy them for more than 10 seconds too!
We parents enjoyed the historical value as well.

The noisy river
My boys like noise so the noise of the river wasn’t scary but a chance to be loud too.
The water wasn’t too loud to be overwhelming but the volume of their white noise machines for bedtime.
Something about the loud river with the bridge captured not only my toddlers attention but a few others as well.

Back streets with less car traffic
Lucerne is a more touristy town with lots of tour buses.
An upside is there’s pedestrian only streets and streets with less cars.
That less traffic means toddlers don’t have to hold mommy’s hand all the time!
There’s plenty of shops with windows to look in (for both mommy and boys too!)
Colorful water fountains
While it was raining during our visit, our toddlers didn’t seem to notice.
Every fountain, they asked for water.
The boys didn’t want to drink from every fountain but wanted the water.
My toddlers also loved pointing out all the colors they saw.

Cobblestone streets
While cobblestone streets aren’t the best for a stroller, they’re awesome for jumping toddlers.
Each stone meant a chance to jump and move.
The boys even practiced their balance by stepping from stone to stone slowly.
Lucerne is a beautiful city I wanted to spend more time in and we will return when the boys are older and can enjoy more of it too!

Beautiful photos, Kat. We see why everyone goes to Lucerne.
